Planning preview

This page describes direction rather than a confirmed calendar. Dates, venues, participating teams, budgets, and registration arrangements will be published only after UWRF approves them.

UWRF is beginning to look toward 2027 with a clear aim: turn the equipment, knowledge, local participation, and visibility built in 2025 and 2026 into more consistent opportunities for Ugandan athletes.

Tugende 2027

UWRF is exploring the next Tugende championship as part of its 2027 direction. No visiting international team, venue, date, invitation, or registration arrangement is confirmed at this stage.

The federation will publish a formal notice on this website only after the programme, safeguarding arrangements, budget, venue, and participating teams have been approved. Earlier reporting about a possible Welsh return no longer reflects UWRF's plans; that collaboration has ended.

Priorities being shaped

01

Athlete development

More regular training, clearer playing pathways, responsible classification guidance, and preparation for stronger national representation.

02

Coaches and officials

Continue technical learning so local coaches, referees, and table officials can sustain competition in Uganda.

03

Regional participation

Build on connections in Kampala, Wakiso, Gulu, and Soroti while supporting realistic routes for new communities and universities.

04

Equipment and access

Increase suitable rugby chairs, maintenance capacity, athlete transport, safe storage, and access to appropriate venues.

05

Partnership and accountability

Match sponsorship and donations to defined needs, then communicate what support enabled and what remains unfunded.

Help shape the next chapter

Athletes, clubs, universities, disability organisations, technical experts, media, government, and potential partners can start a conversation now. UWRF will update this preview as approved plans become firm.
